Axión will offer fiber capacity services in Spain through its subsidiary AXENT

26 April 2018

4,600 kilometers of fiber optics and more than 300 radio links to offer dark fiber services and transport circuits to telecommunications operators

AXENT is founded as a new operator for data capacity transport, initially offering the 4,600 km of Enagás optical fiber deployed along with its gas pipelines, and the more than 300 radio links currently in operation by Axión. The new company also has strong growth plans through investments in new transport networks

Axión incorporates into the society its experience not only as an operator of wireless telecommunications infrastructures in Spain, but also as a provider of indoor coverage (DAS) and high density exterior (Small Cells) solutions, offered through the joint venture “Iberia Small Cell Networks” created together with the British company Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG).

Its value added, both in the deployment and operation of communications infrastructures, and in the integration of fiber and radio technologies, offer great advantages for customers. Fixed and mobile operators, content and service providers demand efficiency and competitiveness in an environment in which networks of greater capacity, flexibility and robustness are increasingly required.

In the words of Jorge Alberto Jiménez, Axión’s CEO: “We hope that the market recognizes in our joint offer with our partner Enagás an efficient and competitive alternative in its network deployment strategies. Axent is a necessary project to accompany the development of services related to the new generation 5G networks, Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Fiber to the Tower (FTTT)”.
