Smart lighting. Axión’s commitment to remote management for sustainability and energy efficiency. The case of Alcalá la Real in Jaén.

Axión has been awarded the contract for the installation and commissioning of a remote management system to modernise and ensure the energy efficiency of the street lighting in Alcalá la Real, Jaén.

Alcalá la Real Town Council, in the province of Jaén, has approved the contract for the renovation and energy efficiency improvements to the municipality’s outdoor public lighting installations.

This initiative, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will enable the town and its surrounding districts to maximise energy control over their streetlights, as well as to plan and forecast trends in their usage.

Axión has been awarded Lot 5, which involves the deployment of a control and monitoring system using LPWAN IoT technology that operates via the public lighting control panels.

In line with the ESG sustainability policies that guide the company’s direction, Axión is fully committed to the application of 5G and IoT in new developments focused on the smart management of energy sustainability.

Replacement of lighting fixtures, refurbishment of electrical switchboards and IoT remote management to maximise energy efficiency… these are some of the areas covered by the project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Sustainable Urban Development Programme (DUS) of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDEA).

This system will also provide the local authority with a LoRaWAN network, enabling the future connectivity of other devices, meters or street furniture, whilst utilising the same infrastructure and minimising the roll-out costs for each new project.
