Smart Towers, the services of the future in the telecommunication towers

UNIRED celebrates its II Forum under the slogan “Smart Towers, the services of the future in telecommunication towers”

On November 24th, the II Forum of UNIRED, association of which Axión is a founding member, was held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The meeting focused on the promotion of the use of telecommunication towers for providing Smart and IoT (Internet of Things) services.

The day was initiated by the president of UNIRED, Juan José Baños, and continued with the institutional opening of the Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, who highlighted the importance of essential infrastructures.

Several discussion tables were opened with topics such as the impact of the digital revolution on the transformation of cities, the perspective of the European Union and the administration of the impact of the IoT in telecommunications, the evolution of Smart Territories, the new business models around Smart Cities and smart telecommunications infrastructures. On this last point, whose discussion was moderated by the CEO of Axión, Jorge Alberto Jiménez, it was demonstrated the capacity of the telecommunication infrastructure operators sector to respond to the vertiginous pace with which Smart and IoT technologies are advancing as well as to meet the demands of users and citizens. The session also included the presentation of examples of good practices “Smart cases“.
