Araceli Garc\u00eda Cuartango, CEO of Axi\u00f3n and Lineox, participated in the panel discussion \u201cNew Business Models in Telecommunications,\u201d alongside Juan Jos\u00e9 Marfil, M\u00f3nica Sala, Ismael Serrano Casero, and Julia Velasco, organized by elEconomista.es, at the 2nd 5GeE Forum, which was sponsored by Axi\u00f3n, Deloitte, Digi, Ericsson, Netmetrix, Orange Empresas, Qualcomm, and Telef\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n

Araceli Garc\u00eda advocated for \u201coptimizing infrastructure through sharing,\u201d given that this is \u201ca highly innovative sector with significant added value.\u201d In addition to spreading out these investment efforts, Garc\u00eda argued that in recent years \u201cthere have been non-business models.\u201d As an example, she invited reflection on the sustainability of a system where \u201ca few operators bear all the sector\u2019s investments.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CEO of Axi\u00f3n acknowledged that when it comes to the business opportunities of private 5G networks, \u201cwe are on the supplier\u2019s side\u201d and emphasized the key role of networks in the rollout of 5G and their impact on strategic sectors such as emergency response, security, and general connectivity. Among other figures, Axi\u00f3n operates more than 20 emergency networks, and she highlighted that the broadband offered by 5G could significantly improve coordination and response in critical situations, such as firefighting.<\/p>\n

Regarding the infrastructure challenge in 5G development, Araceli Garc\u00eda acknowledged that, \u201calthough the technology is already available, infrastructure remains an obstacle. For 5G to function efficiently, continuous coverage is necessary, and streetlights would be the ideal location for installing antennas. However, local regulations hinder this process, and the lack of open access to fiber-optic networks poses another challenge to network expansion.\u201d<\/p>\n

She emphasized that infrastructure is essential for a country\u2019s development and that \u201cinvestment in telecommunications must continue to avoid falling behind.\u201d Although Spain has high-quality networks, the deployment of new infrastructure is unstoppable, especially considering that 80% of data traffic is generated indoors. \u201cThis means that operators must make significant efforts to ensure connectivity in all environments,\u201d said Axi\u00f3n\u2019s CEO.<\/p>\n
